City of Salmon Arm -

City of Salmon Arm

We have been working with the City of Salmon Arm and the CSRD to help facilitate a successful organics collection program in Salmon Arm and we are pleased to announce that with the help of all the Salmon Arm residents it has truly been a positive experience!

City of Vernon -

City of Vernon

Recently we have also partnered with the City of Vernon to offer the community a drop-off point for their compostable materials while region-wide pickup service is being considered.

We will be keeping track of bin fullness and contamination so please help us out by not throwing in any plastic, metal or glass, unless you are using certified compostable bags.

Please be mindful that these bins are intended for residential household organic waste only and not intended for use by businesses. Any yard waste should still be taken to your local landfill for disposal.

Now with the City of Vernon implementing their new and exciting organics collection program the only drop off location can be found at:

  • Vernon Recreation Center at 35th Avenue and 33rd Street

If your municipality would like to set up a similar arrangement, please contact our Sales Manager.

Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE) -

Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE)

5 years ago the IPE agreed to try composting as much food waste with us as possible.

We designed a system for them including small caddies with compostable bags for vendors, dedicated compost bins for the bathroom paper towel and a few totes rolled around by generous young volunteers from a local school and the Girl Guides.

The IPE staff were very excited to see the diverted amounts get bigger each year, from just 1,250 lbs the first year.

We have diverted a HUGE and growing amount of food from this annual event in the last 4 years and we broke a record in 2018 with almost 15,000 lbs of food waste diverted!

We thank all of the volunteers, staff and guests for helping us reduce waste at the IPE! It’s THE agricultural event of the year in the North Okanagan, not to be missed.

Give our volunteers some support when you see them around the Fair in August.
